Find the perfect approach for your project — from simple self-installation to full professional service.

Installation OverviewGetting Your Equipment Ready for Play

Installing playground equipment doesn't have to be overwhelming. Whether using contractors or volunteers, success comes from understanding your options. This section covers everything from DIY setups to professional installations, guiding you from delivery to opening day.

Installation Options Seven Ways to Set Up Your Playground Equipment

Our equipment offers multiple installation methods to suit site conditions, budgets, and timelines.

Choose professional installation when you need guaranteed expertise and want a hands-off experience. Certified installers handle everything from equipment assembly to safety surfacing, ensuring proper use zones and code compliance. While this adds cost to your project, it provides peace of mind and transfers all responsibility to experienced professionals who manage any complications or missing parts.

Save thousands while still benefiting from expert guidance through supervised community builds. An experienced supervisor coordinates your volunteers, shares valuable installation knowledge, and ensures safety standards are met. Depending on project size, these installations typically complete over a few days or weekends, making them perfect for organizations wanting professional oversight without full installation costs.

Maximize your budget by handling installation yourself—UPlay Today equipment is designed for easy one-day installation with just a few people. This DIY approach saves the most money, allowing you to invest more in equipment. All you need is basic tool knowledge, a small team, and our detailed instructions. It's the most popular choice for budget-conscious organizations.

An easy and popular attachment method uses 18-inch ground spikes included with every structure. Simply position your equipment, then drive three spikes per footer using a sledgehammer — no concrete required. Always verify that underground utilities are marked before spiking. This method works best in firm soil conditions and allows for future relocation if needed.

Anchor bolts provide secure attachment when installing on existing concrete pads or planning rubber tile surfacing. After assembling and positioning your structure, drill through the footers into the concrete, fill with epoxy, and insert anchors. This surface-mount option works perfectly for sites with existing concrete and eliminates the need for excavation.

For maximum stability, choose traditional concrete footers with our in-ground mounting kit. This method requires careful measurement, digging post holes, and pouring concrete around 18-inch footers. While more labor-intensive, it provides the most permanent installation. Allow 48 hours for the concrete to cure before use, and rope off the area for safety.

Prioritize safety throughout your installation process. Always locate and mark underground utilities before any digging. Secure all clamps with rivets before allowing any use — unsecured clamps cannot support weight. Keep the site roped off with warning signs until installation is complete. Never attach swings or moving components until all construction finishes and safety surfacing are installed to prevent premature use.

Volunteer Builds Making Installation a Community Event

Turn your playground installation from a construction project into a memorable community experience. With proper planning and organization, “volunteer builds” accomplish multiple goals at once:

  • Create lasting community connections while saving thousands on installation costs

  • Build excitement and ownership among families who'll use the playground

  • Generate positive publicity for your organization through local media coverage

  • Provide volunteer opportunities that bring diverse groups together

  • Turn a work day into a celebration with food, music, and activities

  • Leave everyone with pride in contributing to something meaningful
